- Management Expertise: Professionalized the management systems of large nursing
and medical departments in facilities ranging from 175 to 600 beds as full-time manager
and as consultant. Improved services to the extent that the facility was taken off the
decertification track. Special projects contributions include nursing practice improvements,
rightsizing, cost reductions, dental services efficiencies and risk management systems.
- Computer Database Expertise: Designed and developed management information systems for
nursing, medical, physical therapy, occupational therapy and psychology services and private
consulting organizations in personnel staffing, quality improvement, absenteeism, overtime,

- Quality Assurance: Designed and conducted extensive nursing
quality assurance research and system development from 1977 to present. Improved services to
exceed regulatory requirements of Title 19 regulations, OBRA regulations and Department of Justice.
- Human Resources: Recruited and motivated talented, qualified
personnel. Reduced overtime and cut staff between 20-30% while maintaining quality care and
expending nursing services in several facilities.
- Continuing Education Consultant: Developed and conducted
management, team building and professional nursing programs as consultant for small
businesses and large health-care facilities. An articulate, highly effective national
speaker/instructor. Developed a state-wide continuing education approval and accreditation
process for nurses in the State of Maine.
- Demonstrated Leadership: Developer of NANDA-accepted nursing
diagnosis: Alteration in Health Maintenance. Consultant to state Cabinet officials.
Only nurse representative to the Massachusetts Committee of Life Sustaining Treatment (1995).
Initiated programs dealing with human rights, abuse and mistreatment procedures, safety and
accident prevention, health and sexuality issues.
- National Conference Speaker: Authority on habilitative
nursing care systems and organizational development issues. Presented to the North American
Nursing Diagnosis Association (1984), the American Association on Mental Retardation (1984),
the Organizational Development Network National Conference (1989), the Northeast Society of
Nurse Researchers (1994) and to several different chapters of Sigma Theta Tau, the National
Nursing Honor Society (1990-1995).
- Professional Recognition: Listed in reference volumes
from 1983 to 2003 including the Who's Who in the World, Who's Who of American Women,
International Who's Who in Medicine, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who
in American Nursing, Who's Who of Women Executives and Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in Science
and Engineering, Who's Who in Information Technology.
